5 Stars for Fresh Flavor

Not only am I supporting local farms (in the city!), but I'm getting high-quality, in season produce. SO much better than shopping at the grocery store. I'm fairly busy, so having someone else decide what I'm eating for the week is also helpful!

Danielle E.

The CSA is absolutely amazing! The produce is amazing, the communication is so kind and courteous, and the delivery option is amazing!!

Jamie V.

The freshest produce I've had in a long time. Large portions and great quality.

FAQs

When does the season start/end?

We encourage you to join for our Full Season for the best deals and savings!

Alternatively, you're welcome to sign up for individual seasons throughout the year:

Spring (Apr 12-May 7) - Half shares only
Summer 1 (May 17-July 2)
Summer 2 (July 12-Aug 27)
Fall (Sep 6-Oct 29)
Winter (Nov 1-26) - Half shares only

What's in a half share/full share?

Half Shares provide enough to feed 2-3 over the course of a week. You can expect a variety of microgreens or salad mix; 1 seasonal leafy greens bunch (Kale, Collards, Swiss Chard); 1 bowl of salad greens (Spinach, Arugula, UGC spicy mustard mix, Lettuce Mix); 1 culinary herb, tea bundle, or edible flowers; Seasonal fruit from partner farmer or UGC’s own orchard; 1 variety of Seasonal Produce (Carrots, beets, kohlrabi, turnips).

Full shares provide enough to feed a family of four over the course of a week. You can expect a variety of microgreens or salad mix; 1-2 bunches of seasonal leafy greens (e.g. kale, swiss chard); Salad Greens (e.g. spinach, arugula); 1-2 culinary herbs, tea bundles, or edible flowers; Seasonal fruit from partner farmer or UGC’s own orchard; 2-3 varieties of seasonal produce (e.g. carrots, peppers, tomatoes).

Can I customize what's in my box?

Member preferences not associated with allergies cannot be accommodated. The best part of a CSA is that the contents of your shares will change from week to week, and you will receive a wide variety of items throughout the season. We encourage you to try out a new food, get creative in the kitchen, or donate any produce you don’t want to a friend or Love Fridge location.

Members with food allergies should notify us as soon as possible, and we will do our best to remove those items from your shares and swap in another comparable item whenever possible (vegetable for vegetable, herb for herb.) For seasonal fruits, another vegetable may be added instead.

Please keep in mind that all shares are packed together, and we cannot provide a 100% allergen-free environment.

Do I have to be home for delivery?

You do not have to be present to accept your delivery, however your delivery instructions should include information on how/where to drop-off your share at your desired location.

If you're not able to receive your delivery, 1. Provide instructions on where to place your CSA and 2. Provide a cooler to place your CSA and keep your veggies fresh on hot days!

Do you accept SNAP/EBT?

We do! To pay for your CSA boxes with EBT, please sign up with a valid credit card and use promo code: EBT100. Your card will not be charged, and you'll need to present your EBT card for payment at pickup.

What if I go on vacation/have to skip a week?

If you know ahead of time that you cannot make it to your pick up location or receive your delivery, please notify us by replying "skip," to the weekly order alert no later than 3PM on the Monday before your scheduled Saturday pick up/delivery.

Skipped shares will not be refunded, but we'll donate it on your behalf as a mutual aid share to a community member in need, dropped off at a Love Fridge location, or donated to another community partner. You can also have a friend or family member pick up the share for you.

What farms are part of your collective?

Shares are stocked with vegetables and culinary herbs from UGC, fruit from Seedling Farm, and microgreens from Urban Eden, which started as an incubation farm at UGC. As a member of our CSA, you are helping us build a more equitable local food system that directly supports BIPOC farmers and ranchers.

Why Collective Supported Agriculture?

CSA in America was conceived by Booker T. Whatley, an Alabama horticulturist and Tuskegee University professor.  He advocated for "smaller and smarter" farming and created what he called “clientele membership clubs,” now known as CSA, so that small farmers could sell direct to eaters. Source: Mother Earth News.

At Urban Growers Collective we call our CSA program, "Collective Supported Agriculture" to highlight the ways in which we include our customers in our ecosystem of partners advocating for sustainable growth and development through urban agriculture. We couldn't do this work without you!
